Ollie Watkins fired a first-half hat-trick as the Villans raced into a 4-1 lead after just 22 minutes.
The incredible result lifts Aston Villa to second place in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Everton. It was a remarkable performance from Dean Smith's side, who have now won their last three league games.
Watkins opened the scoring after just four minutes, before Mohamed Salah equalized for Liverpool. But Watkins restored Villa's lead just two minutes later, and Ross Barkley made it 3-1 after 17 minutes.
Watkins completed his hat-trick four minutes later, becoming the first Villa player to score three goals in a Premier League game since 1995.
Liverpool pulled one back through Sadio Mane just before half-time, but Villa continued to dominate after the break. Jack Grealish made it 6-2 after 55 minutes, and Anwar El Ghazi completed the rout with a stunning strike in the 81st minute.
The result was a major blow to Liverpool's hopes of retaining their Premier League title. It was their heaviest defeat in the league since 1963, and it leaves them eighth in the table, five points behind Villa.
